- A major step in awareness is to be very watchful of your body. Slowly you become alert to each gesture, each movement. As you become aware, a miracle starts happening. Many things that you used to do before simply disappear; your body becomes more relaxed and attuned. A deep peace starts to prevail.
- Establish concentration by focusing on the breath, then transfer your awareness to your right arm, from the fingers to the shoulder. Then do the same for the left arm. While remaining aware of your arms, become progressively conscious of your torso and then your neck, head, and face. You are now aware of your upper body. Without losing this awareness, now become progressively aware of each part of the lower body. Now the whole of your physical presence is embraced. Sit in this embrace for the rest of the session. You may experience feelings of gratitude toward your body for the way it carries out its vital functions without the need for conscious control.
