Philosophy uses this power to strip away all irrelevance and work out the most basic of meanings from the most basic (and safest) of assumptions. Dip into thinkers like Aristotle, Descartes, and - if you're feeling a bit braver - Kant. And why not experiment by working out what your own philosophy is? Philosophy is the purest use of language, reawakening us to the enigma of being.
