- Our heart and mind are inherently awake for dealing with the rigors of life, the mind of meditation is a wonderful ally.
- Right at this moment, as you are reading this book, become very aware of your body. Take an inventory. You may notice that you are hunched over a little. Maybe you are squinting because of the light. Get in touch with your body right now, exactly as it is. Notice what happens when you shift position. It is simple; you just need to remember.
- Sometimes at retreats, meditators are asked not to read (even Buddhist texts) or write (even in a journal). Eliminating those two activities is a way of diminishing the incessant hum of thought and language and of penetrating deeper into silence.
